In October 2022, Selkie will be setting her bow north to Orkney and Shetland as she starts her epic journey towards the arctic circle… with a plan to explore the mountains and spring snow adventures, sailing north past Lofoten to the islands north of Tromsø. Our northbound journey starts from Eigg and takes a week anchoring each night on the north west coast of Scotland before arriving in Stromness. Gradually flexing her muscles, she sails onwards to Shetland with a call at Fair Isle if the the weather is fair! The voyage ends in Lerwick, where you can connect with ferries and flights to mainland UK.
The first week of this adventure, we depart from Mallaig and sail north through the narrows and under the Skye bridge. A myriad of anchorages beckon under the remote Sutherland coastline, far from the roads, with spectacular views of Suilven and other iconic mountains. Handa Island bird sanctuary and the sea stacks pave the way along the shore to Cape Wrath, the guardian of the north coast.
For those with a real yen for adventure, Selkie is sailing up the coast of Norway from late February/early March 2023 and will be taking onboard guests as we wend our way up the coast. Winter nights voyaging north, in big duvet jackets and fleece mitts, on goes the reflex stove and Selkie sails to where the snow and mountains meet the sea a week’s sail north of Tromsø. Our expedition is in the planning phase so get in touch and express your interest; share in this adventure to realise a Selkie dream.
