2022 has so much to intrigue the discerning sailor…

Choose from a range of beautiful, mindful sails exploring the Hebridean Small Isles to journeying along Norway’s coast north towards the Arctic circle.

Selkie sets her sails for 2022 with thoughtful and immersive voyages, enabling us to savour the sights, sounds and tastes of the islands in spring. If you’re looking to enhance your sailing knowledge and combine wellbeing and confidence, then our first voyage of the season is for you. As a yoga practitioner and trainee teacher, our skipper has developed practices aboard Selkie, atop paddle boards, and on land in remote and beautiful locations. And our onboard chef will create delicious healthy meals themed around foraged and locally sourced ingredients.

Selkie’s Geology Sail with Angus Miller will journey you through time as well as space. As with all our island sails, we let the wind, waves and wildlife decide our itinerary. Tread in dinosaur footprints, unearth the volcanic story or the Hebrides and reconstruct the ancient landscapes of the oldest rocks on earth. Our trips usually depart from Mallaig and finish either back at Mallaig or on Eigg, where they’re timed to coincide with the Calmac ferry back to Mallaig.

The spring break for schools south of the border is a popular time for families or teachers to join Selkie for the first glimpses of summer and the chance to experience nesting puffins, aqua adventures and exploring by sail – for some, for the first time. Long, long days and the promise of blue, blue sea and skies, green and craggy mountains fringed by white coral sands.  These are adventures to build memories and dreams on, away from the classroom and office, a chance to reconnect with nature, family and friends.

Moving into long summery days of June, Selkie has combined with Wild Photography Holidays for a voyage specially geared to the photographer. What an opportunity to learn and develop your skills and interest amongst the spectucular scenery and wildlife of the Hebridean Islands!

No summer is complete without a solstice adventure to the Outer Hebrides and the chance of finding the conditions ripe to sail to St Kilda, the UNESCO jewel 40 miles west of Harris. Other islands pepper the wild atlantic side of the outer isles and deep, intricate channels and bays beckon shelter and hillwalking to the east. Perhaps a voyage to the Shiants to gawk at more birds and wildlife or a starlit sail returning from Mingulay to Eigg. There’s so much to see, little wonder it calls for a 10-day voyage.

In July, we are again offering a more meditative journey around the Hebridean Small Isles. Find beaches and breeze-carressed mountain tops to practice our well being and spiritual connection to the sea and land.

Summer holidays loom in late July, and family vacations are on the agenda. Regardless of age – children, adults, young and old – everyone will find adventure and connection, fun and joy in the pleasures of sailing, swimming, exploring beaches and deserted islands, foraging, fishing and bonfires. These voyages for families and adult groups take us through to the end of August when the dial gets turned up and Selkie starts to get itchy fins and we go into expedition mode.

Selkie is setting her cap towards the arctic circle… with a plan to offer Spring Snow adventures in 2023.  But first she heads from Eigg to Stornaway, gradually flexing her muscles, she sails for Orkney and then Shetland from where she is ready to jump off for Norway. Join Selkie for one, two or all of these legs of the journey.

For those with a real yen for adventure, Selkie is sailing up the coast of Norway during the whole month of October. As the nights draw in and the chill settles, out come the big duvet jackets and fleece mits, on goes the reflex stove and Selkie heads north for her winter berth around Tromsø.

How to book…
